The Domain Name System or DNS is a system that matches IP addresses to Domain Names. The domain names as IP addresses that represent is unique, have a hierarchy and read from left to right.
The relationship between a name and IP address is not 1 to 1. That one name may correspond to many IP addresses.
For example www.google.gr address corresponding to three IP addresses 66.102.9.99, 66.102.9.104 and 66.102.9.147. In this case we have three servers running while performing the same job but share the workload by three. In this case the DNS server performs load balancing between the three other servers.
